High quality poster print by AntiqueReprints. From the collection of nearly 6,000 photochrom (photochrome) prints from the Detroit Publishing Company collections of the Library of Congress. When ordering reprints from this collection, it is important to understand what you will receive. While these images are in color and they are quite beautiful, they are not comparable in tone, image quality, and resolution to modern color photography. Photochroms prints were made by adding colors to a black and white image by using multiple colored lithographic stones. The color range is limited in each print to a handful of actual colors, but the color depth appears deeper in many prints than it actually is. The final prints were created using different color impressions from multiple lithographic stones. Subjects are almost exclusively cities, scenes, and landscapes of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. Countries or regions include: Algeria, Belgium, England, France, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lebanon, Norway, Poland, Russia, Scotland, Syria, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, and more.
